3. Creating a Collection
Create a new collection before uploading your documents
Previous step: Registration and Login
Some of the layout and navigation features described here are part of upcoming updates to the Transkribus interface. These changes are already available in the beta version and will soon be released.
A collection in Transkribus is essentially a folder that holds all the documents related to a specific project. Each collection can contain multiple documents, and each document, in turn, consists of the pages that have been uploaded.
To create a new collection in Transkribus, switch to the Collections tab and click on "+ New Collection" on the right side.
Enter a name for the collection and click + Create.

The new collection window will open for you to directly start uploading your document(s).
You can also go to the Collections tab, where the newly created collection will be listed.
You can search your collections by collection title or ID, the identifier allocated to the collection upon creation.
To delete the collection or edit its metadata, click on the three dots appearing to the right of the collection tile on the “Collections” page. You can also mark the collection as a 'favourite' so that it appears at the top of all your collections.

You may have noticed that the new collection contains no documents. The next step will explain how to upload your documents to Transkribus.
